Phones are the culprits; but eyes and brain are not the only victims

The moment we take our phone out, our parents typically say that it'll ruin our eyes and mental health. I'm not here to say it's not true but I just wanna let you know if there other perils of using the phone. I'm gonna ask you a question before I talk about each victim. Before reading the answer, think about the question, think about how long and how deep you are doing them for a minute.

Let's come from top to bottom...

1. Are you a person who spends thousands on hair care products?

I'm so sorry to say that all that money is just getting wasted unless you limit your phone usage. We know that when we use phones for a long period, it'll get heated up due to the radiation which will affect our hair directly causing hair fall. The radiation is also said to damage the brain cells.

2. Are you a person who'll leave Bluetooth earphones for a long period?

While using Bluetooth, the signals have a very short wavelength, since wavelength is inversely proportional to frequency. Bluetooth earphones have very high frequency which is very harmful for our ears as it'll dry or the fluid in them.

3. Are you a person who'll scroll in bed till midnight?

I hope you know that the light from the phone will drive your brain to think that it's morning and your brain refuses to sleep. That's why we have an option called "Blue light filter" in our settings to limit the amount of blue light from the phone. Without following this don't say "Brain is not raining" and "Sleep is not sleeping".

4. Do you have any pain or burning sensation in the neck?

It's because you bend your neck for about 90 degrees to 150 degrees, and you'll stick to this position at least for an hour. This eventually causes Neck pain.

5. Are you worried about your tanning?

Tanning is not bad, it's just an inertia of the skin to the exposure to UV rays, just to protect your skin. But I know we don't accept that, we'll want to do skin whitening and de-tan and all. Remember, tanning happens not only with exposure to sunlight but also with the phone light.

6. Do you know the heat will transfer from hotter bodies to cooler bodies?

We know that our phones will get heated up when we use them a lot, when compared to the phone our body is cooler, eventually, the culprit is transferring his heat to our body, which might lead to dangerous conditions.

Not just these, but this culprit is consuming our time, recollect the times when you realize it's been a few hours or minutes more than you thought it would be while using your phone. People of those days were able to remember many phone numbers and addresses but nowadays, we just save them and we aren't exercising our memory power. Kids get addicted to games, teens get addicted to Instagram, Adults get addicted to Facebook and legends get addicted to study apps and websites. Not just these, nowadays people started to gamble online and potentially lose money. Using a phone will satisfy your dopamine but in the long run, it'll leave you with stress and depression. I attended a seminar a year ago, where a scientist said to everyone that "It's impossible to avoid the usage of phones, all we have to do is to limit the usage of phones".Limit the usage of the phone, track your experience, and see the magic!!!

I thank my collaborator Sri Raksha for her wonderful points mentioned above!

VIT Chennai: My Kick-Start Day

25th July Having my bag packed up a day earlier I placed the dress I have to wear on a table beside my bed and went to sleep with thousands of expectations and a bit of nervousness. When I went curious into my dream, my mom woke me up. I got freshed up and got ready. Me and my dad rushed to the bus stop that I didn't even take my day 1 picture. I got my bus and I'm literally not a big fan of bus travels. So I tried my best to be distracted and to sleep.  I was also sure that I have to capture the moment I was going to enter into the college. I dunno why I got emotional the day 1 I was entering into the campus. I felt like VIT is person and it's welcoming me. I tried my best to keep my tears to my eyes. I was directed to an auditorium called MG auditorium. I was early there and the first two persons I met the were Anvitha and Kamia with whom I spent the rest of the day. It was it induction day which actually refers to orientation day, just VIT or physics terms. W...
